Influence of Ancient China
Social Studies Standard: Early civilizations (India, Egypt, China and Mesopotamia) with unique governments, economic systems, social structures, religions, technologies and agricultural practices and products flourished as a result of favorable geographic characteristics. The cultural practices and products of these early civilizations can be used to help understand the Eastern Hemisphere today.

Chinese culture was guided by a several competing philosophies. Each of these philosophies had a strong influence on ancient China - guiding how people lived their lives, and how the government was run. In addition, the philosophies have had an affect on modern China. Some people in ancient China believed mainly in just one philosophy, while others combined aspects of each philosophy into their personal beliefs.
There were three main philosophies in ancient China:
1. Confucianism
2. Daoism
3. Legalism
